“To the middle way that brought happiness to our home and our family.”
Microwave Madam.
This is someone’s story. I listened, made notes, and then felt compelled to write it out at this blog years ago, in a series of poems and the stray essay.
It’s someone’s story but it might not be yours. In fact, your story might be so different that it’s the opposite of hers. It might have lessons that are different from those in this story. And that’s okay.
This is her story. And when she speaks, she’s speaking about the way she experiences life.
She isn’t telling you that your experiences don’t matter or that they aren’t valid. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that every story is about you.
Instead, let her speak and be wise enough to listen, because there’s always something to be learned from the story of another.
Remember that there are different colours and shapes, and varied patterns in this world. And that they coexist quite comfortably with a little bit of flexibility that comes when people are wise enough to know it’s possible. And accommodate it.
It’s so important for us to listen to the story of another and acknowledge it. For us to know that the reality of another is as important as ours. For us to understand that between black and white and the many shades in between, there’s a middle way.
That there can be a middle way.
All we really have to do is listen. And be open to working with ideas that will make these possibilities a reality.
I invite you to go through this blog and hope you can acknowledge the stories you read here, even if they don’t align with the stories in your life.
