So long Ma, and thanks for all the fish!
No cooking tonight – there’s lots of food in the fridge.
Nothing to do except mop the floor
a lazy day with time for more.
I can listen to music and read a book
and sing happy and loud ‘cos I don’t need to cook.
Nothing to do in the evening and time to play
after a family visit. It’s been a nice lazy day.
I always return from family visits with a dabba of fried fish from my Mum 🙂
PS Dec8: I didn’t mean to rip the first line off ‘So Long And Thanks For All The Fish’ by Douglas Adams – that was coincidence. I haven’t read the book actually and am not crazy about science fiction, unlike my husband.
Another PS Dec12: Okay, So long and thanks for all the fish is an idiom from the above book. It’s used for a final humorous goodbye. I’ve been thinking about the usage of this phrase and finally looked it up.
A family visit is always good! I hope you treasure your mother and her “dabba of fish”! (I love fish!)

Yes it IS, and more so since the lockdown and no family visits at all – and yes I do – I love fish the way she cooks it 🙂
