Now launching the Sing-With-Someone Project – a collaboration between The Relaxed Housekeeper and Anitaelise Piano Studio.
How it all started
Music makes such a difference to my daily life and really makes me feel happy. So, I approached a friend, we selected a few songs to practise together and started to meet once a week to sing together. And it’s been fun!
India is a country of many languages, so I’m trying to include songs in different languages by inviting friends from different communities to contribute their favorites. We already have quite a few songs in our playlist, some easy to learn and some that need more practise. I’ll be publishing the songs in random order as my singing partner and I learn them and understand the lyrics.
It would be so lovely to have a group of friends who all sing the same songs – something I always had growing up in a musical family and something I’d like to have going forward with the wide mix of communities that is my circle of friends.
How to participate in the Sing-With-Someone Project
- Add the playlist at the bottom of this post to your YouTube library.
- Find a friend or relative to sing with once a week and practise.
- Get your cellphones and Bluetooth speakers organized so you can sing daily wherever you are, and especially in the kitchen if you cook daily.
- Ask friends and relatives to join you by finding their own singing partners.
I think I’d like this project to reach out to many like me who love singing, and just can’t be consistent with late evening or weekend choir practise.
Our plan is to invite family or friends living close by to practise – either in partners or on their own, and then join us for a once a month singing session and a cup of chai.
This project isn’t about being the best singer, but rather about bring music to everyone. So I invite you to join in – sing, croak out the words, or just make a joyful noise. All that matters is that you experience the happiness, joy and abandon that music brings to daily living.
So please find your singing partner and wait for our first song. I hope to post it in a week or so and after that, would love to have an update on how this went for you!

This is a pretty cool idea!

My singing partner and I are enjoying it so much that I’m trying to take it to other friends. Am planning to invite friends over to sing with me and hope it works out on a regular basis.
A weekly choir practise doesn’t work for most of the women I know, so this is more relaxed.
